Bleeding Orange

We had major drama at our house last night. In the words of Aubrie "this is the worstest thing that ever happened to me!"

Why don't the parenting magazines tell you this?

1. Throw away old nail polish because they might shatter in your child's hand while she's shaking it.

2. Don't let children have nail polish on the carpet (OK, they probably do say this one, but I haven't had time to read parenting magazines. Come on, I have three kids).

3. Don't ever, I mean ever buy orange nail polish (why in the world did I have orange nail polish anyway?).

4. When you have a house full of girls, part of your Emergency Food Storage should be nail polish remover (I had to race to the store because mine was gone).

5. Area rugs are highly underrated.

6. Remember that now that your oldest is 5, you need to be more sensitive to her total devastation that her favorite blanket was ruined.

I had the epiphany last night that it's kind of nice that you have about 3 years of a grace period before your kids start to remember things forever. However, Aubrie is past that now, and if I mess up, she may hold it to me the rest of my life. Yikes!

Fortunately, the glass didn't hurt anyone, but our nice, quiet evening turned into hours of scrubbing. The above picture has Oxy Clean over the spots. I thought about taking a picture before this so you could see the bright orange, but I was afraid every second mattered before it would dry.

Considering, I think we did pretty well. There's just some slight pink on the blanket and the carpet looks pretty good too. Ellie and my pajamas are ruined. Oh well.

I was hoping you would post pictures on your blog...Wow! You did a great job. Heather said that her friend used "denatured alcohol" to remove nail polish. But you did a great job. I'm just so happy that no one was hurt.

Hey, it looks pretty good, Jeni. Your hours of scrubbing really paid off ;).

Loved #4 on your list.

I guess that is one bonus of having a boy - I don't think Jordan has ever played with finger nail polish! Hey Tanya Purcell
(formerly Tanya Smith) tagged me and so i tagged you too. :) You'll have to look at our website for the details.

I totally hear you!!! Micah got some pink nail polish and dumped it all over his brand new Hawaiian sheets. I can't get them anywhere! Totally ruined!!! Then, took some silver nail polish, and dumped it on our bathroom floor. THEN... today, after Bria dumped TONS of water over the upstairs floor, Colton decided it would be even more perfect if he added toothpaste!!! AHHHH! Seriously, where is their mother when this is happening???
I can TOTALLY sympathize!!! Great job on the cleaning! Aubrie is lucky to have such an understanding mother!!!

OH MY! We've totally had days like that (like the Sharpie all over the walls the day my entire extended family arrived for Christmas ...) Not fun. I'm just so glad nobody got hurt on the glass.

Another carpet product you may want to try is called Capture. You can get it at Lowes and Home Depot. My parents swear by it. We just bought some last week to try and clean up all our baby stains on the floors but I haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I'll let you know how it goes!

You made a lot of improvement. You definitely won't scarr your children because you take so much care to make it right! When you have a boy though, you may have to worry about your three older girls scarring him though when they try and paint his nails :)

This happens even in a house full of boys - but thankfully not lately. The drama of the moment must have been fantastic!
